The 64th Frankfurt Motor Show opened with a bang – several bangs, in fact – as more than 2 300 media were treated to a night-before preview on the eve of the event, which starts today.
The VW Group paraded its frontliners in a glittering display of sound, light and explosions. Models from Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, and Porsche shared the stage with their more prosaic – but arguably as important – stablemates Volkswagen, Skoda and Seat.
Among the evening’s announcements was the news that Lamborghini is to put its lightweight Sesto Elemento supercar into production in a limited run of only 20. New models include the latest iteration of the Porsche 911 series and Audi RS5, while VW presented a new, affordable compact and Audi travelled further along the electric road with its A2 concept.
