A new made-for-Indonesia compact MPV will make its global debut in September at the  Indonesia International Motor Show.

The new vehicle was developed for the Asian market by Honda’s R&D centres in Thailand and Indonesia. It is designed to target the entry level MPV segment, which is said to be the biggest category in the Indonesian market.

Honda says the 7-seat MPV has an innovative design, spacious cabin, and advanced safety.  It will use a 1,5-litre petrol engine.

According to the president of Honda’s Indonesian operation ( PT Honda Prospect Motor),  Tomoki Uchida,  the new vehicle has been developed especially for the needs of customers and road characteristics in the country. “This model will also be locally produced in Indonesia as the first product of its new Second Plant in Karawang, scheduled to begin operation in early 2014,” he said. “This makes the new Honda MPV a very special product for Honda in Indonesia.”
