Toyota’s new Innova MPV offers 8-seat people-moving ability for under R250 000.
Although similar in some ways to other models that are also based on Toyota’s Innovative International Multipurpose Vehicle (IMV) platform, the Innova was specifically designed as a passenger vehicle. According to Toyota it has the ride and handling characteristics required of vehicles in this segment.

Convenience and comfort items range from multi-information display to electric windows, remote door locking with alarm and immobiliser and satellite steering wheel controls for the audio, Bluetooth and multi information display system.
The air-con is a dual automatic system with clean air filter and a digital display input.
Speaking of display, the Innova boasts Toyota’s new Display Audio system, which made its debut on the Hilux and Fortuner. (The system is being rolled out to models such as the Verso.) It has a touch-sensitive 155 mm screen, six speakers, a front-loading CD player with MP3, USB, Aux, iPod and Bluetooth connectivity.
On the 7-seat model the Display Audio system also features an integrated reverse camera. Both versions of the Innova are equipped with a driver and passenger airbags and seat belts for all passengers. All models are equipped with ABS brakes.
Under the bonnet is the familiar 118 kW 2,7 VVT-i petrol four-cylinder. Fuel consumption has been rated at 11.2 litres/100 km in a combined cycle and CO2 emissions are 265 g/km.
The vehicle measures 4,58 metres long by 1,75 m high and is equipped with 205/65 R15 tyres on steel rims for the 8-seat version and alloy wheels on the 7-seater.
Both models are sold with a 5 year/90 000 km service plan, 3 year/100 000 km warranty and service intervals of 15 000 km.
