2009 Triumph Bonneville SE

Triumph’s retro Bonneville has successfully captured the look and flavour of one of the world’s most iconic motorcycles. The new SE model gains fuel injection, alloy wheels, a lower seat and dual megaphone-style exhausts – just like the sporty Thruxton. The 865 cm3 motor creates a broad, flat plateau of torque, so downshifts are seldom needed for passing manoeuvres. A good rider on a Bonneville SE will surprise a few sportbikes in the right circumstances. But this Bonnie’s real forte is the easygoing Sunday cruise. The big twin generates 69 N.m of torque, so it’s smooth and relaxed at moderate engine speeds, with just enough of a mechanical pulse coming through to provide the right ambience.
