To celebrate South African motorcycle-racing star Brad Binder’s move into MotoGP, Red Bull have launched a limited edition can featuring the athlete.

Binder will race in the elite class next year, making him the first South African to race MotoGP™ in the four-stroke era and the first to compete in the premiere class since 2000.

The MotoGP, a Grand Prix motorcycle race, will be happening in May in Spain. 24-year-old Binder will be riding his Red Bull KTM Tech3 against five-time MotoGP champion, Marc Márquez and the legendary Valentino Rossi.

MotoGP bikes are purpose-built race machines, custom made from the ground-up using high-tech materials such as carbon fibre, titanium and magnesium. They can reach speeds of over 300km/h.

“It’s going to be really difficult at the beginning especially, but it’s going to be incredible lining up on the grid with Valentino Rossi and a lot of my heroes. It’s an incredible feeling and I can’t wait for it to start,” said Binder.

For most of the year Binder is based in Spain and loves racing there. “Spain is a seriously motorbike-racing-mad country,” he said. “Motorbike racing in Spain is like rugby for South Africans. That pretty much sums it up. So many Spanish GP fans turn out on race weekend. There are thousands. Racing is a culture here, it’s not just a sport,” he said.

“To know that there are so many people back home supporting me is crazy. I miss everything about South Africa when I’m away – the food, the people. I’m really looking forward to my move to MotoGP next year and hope to make everyone proud,” Binder added.

In addition to the limited-edition can, Red Bull is offering the chance to win a trip to watch Binder race at his home-away-from-home next year. All you have to do, is show your support for him with unique video upload!

To stand a chance to win, make use of two exciting Augmented Reality filters and upload a video of support using the hashtag #ALL41BINDER. Find more information here.
