Chevrolet is to produce an all-electric version of its Spark minicar – the Spark EV.
The Spark EV will go on sale in 2013 in select US and global markets.
Chev's existing electric options include the Volt extended-range EV and the 2013 Malibu Eco with eAssist technology. The company also has electric demonstration fleets in Shanghai (Sail EV), Korea (Cruze EV) and India (Beat EV). Insights from these fleets are being incorporated into the Spark EV.
A123 Systems will supply the Spark's nanophosphate lithium-ion battery packs.
