If you’ve been following Tesla for the last few years, you’ve most likely heard of their intentions to release an all electric pickup truck. Back in 2013 Elon Musk tweeted “Would love to do a pickup truck”, then towards the end of 2017 he went back to Twitter to say “I promise that we will make a pickup truck right after Model Y… am dying to build it”.

Finally, on Wednesday he once again took to the social media platform to announce the news that the Tesla Cybertruck would be unveiled in the next two weeks on 21 November at Tesla’s design studio in Los Angeles, California.

Musk talked up the Cybertruck at Tesla’s annual shareholders meeting in June where he suggested that the pickup truck offers more utility than a new Ford F-150 truck and “be a better sports car than a Porsche 911”. Musk also described the car as “an armored personal carrier from the future”

Musk hasn’t revealed what the final version for the Cybertruck will look like, only offering vague references to its “cyberpunk” aesthetic. However, he did tweet out a very dark teaser image of what looks like the bed of the vehicle. Beside the overall design, the November unveiling should reveal more information about the trucks capabilities such as the price and battery range.

Sticking with the cyberpunk theme, Musk drew parallels between the cybertruck reveal and the futuristic Blade Runner film. The classic 1982 film takes place in a dystopian future set in Los Angeles in the year 2019, which happens to be the same time and location when Musk plans on revealing the truck.
