Increasingly sophisticated 4x4s have accelerated demand for equipment and accessories that are up to the demands of off-roading – and that’s particularly true for the running gear. If you’re keen to optimise your vehicle (and we’re not talking wheel spinners here) you should take a look at Gabriel’s Safari HDP shock absorber. Locally designed and manufactured for SUVs and 4×4 vehicles, the Safari HDP – heavy-duty performance – is specifically intended as an OEM replacement for a wide range of applications and makes.
According to Gabriel, the big-bore design of the HDP’s working cylinder reduces stress on the working components of the shock, increasing durability. A hydraulic lock design prevents metal-to-metal contact inside the shock under full extension, protecting it from topping out and causing damage to internal and external components.
It’s reinforced with 360º welded mounts, with solid one-piece machined eye-rings instead of the curled eye-ring used by competitors. Many of the internals are specifically intended for durability, but significant performance characteristics include friction-reducing bushes and velocity-sensitive valving that adjusts damping to compensate for different speeds as well as road conditions.
The Safari HDP comes with a three-year unlimited distance warranty, said to be the first in SA for a 4×4 shock absorber.
