If you love incredible mountain adventures, the BANFF Film Festival is sure to impress. Selected shorts from this acclaimed festival will be showing at some Ster Kenikor cinemas around the country from October 25 to November 3.
Cape Union Mart brings this well-supported international film festival to South Africa for the 15th year, giving armchair adventurers all they crave in terms of cinematic brilliance. From adrenalin pumping epic skiing, surfing and mountain-biking journeys to fierce climbing and running excursions, each shot in different awe-inspiring locations around the world, viewers will be both moved and inspired by the incredible sportsmanship of all involved.
This years shorts imported from the official film festival selection featured unbelievable stories of people going beyond their limits and re-defining mountain sports. From following the journey of the first woman to complete one of the hardest graded climbs to running up mountains alongside a 97-year-old man, there is no shortage of inspiring stories among this year’s films. Even the most unenthusiastic mountaineer can’t help but leave this screening ready to take on a challenge.
Two South African documentary shorts from the Cape Union Mart Adventure Film Challenge 2019 will also be shown. Kloof Corner Ridge and Free Diver both document outdoor adventure enthusiasts doing what they do best, whether it’s running up the side of Table Mountain or freediving into the depths.
Five lucky readers will receive double tickets to see these short films at one of the selected Ster Kenikors with an equally adventurous friend.
